DJ Uchikawa Masahiko is a veteran DJ with a career spanning more than 25 years, during which time he has worked consistently to establish the club scene in Japan. He regulalry visits Europe and also known for his enormous record collection – the godfather of rare groove, Norman Jay MBE (UK), offered Uchikawa high praise, calling him the “the Japanese ‘Jay’”. Outside Japan, DJ Uchikawa has performed with Tony Humphries, Roger Sanchez, Ken Carpenter, Victor Rosado, Nick Jones, Joey Lianos, CJ Mackintosh and others.
Since 1998, Rhythm Of Elements, a collaboration between DJ Masahiko Uchikawa and pianist Makoto Kuriya has been released on major European and Japanese record labels (Black Vinyl, Future Vision, Loop Sounds, R2 Records, Jet Set Records…), and 2008 marked their 10th anniversary. Today they are recognized as Japan’s premiere deep house unit, and their productions enjoy the acclaim of the worldwide underground house scene. Spurred on by these developments, DJ Uchikawa was inspired to start his own label, Loft Music, to initiate his “loftsoul” solo project. The project features highly experimental collaborations with a deep house theme, and Uchikawa released his first original album under the name “loftsoul”. Then in November 2008, he released his magnum opus, the CD album “Rhythm Of Elements/Evolution”.
DJ Uchikawa is in the UK to launch his Rhythm of Elements Global Soul EP on R2 Records at The Hospital Club on 16th February 2013 and to celebrate 10 years of his Club Loft in Japan at Rhythm Factory on 22nd February 2013.

• We are also very happy to announce the start of a new night on Friday 29th March (Good Friday) – M.U.D. is the coming together of four like-minded, yet musically diverse DJs, combining to bring a cross genre soulful dance party. More party deets below…
M.U.D is a new night, formed by a new collective with old values. Not to say we don’t believe in new music, we just don’t think it needs labelling so much.
The key is in the title Makes Us Dance (M.U.D) it unlocks our passion for music and allows us to throw inhibition to the wall and get down & dirty.
The musical stylings on the night will cross genres with our residents having played at plethora of places and bring all their influences under one roof. From hip hop to house expect quality not quantity…
Come with your dancing shoes and social hat… Drink, dance and delight in this thing we call music…
